A precious treasure: Cocoa from Columbia. Columbia – a mysterious, diverse country full of surprises and joie de vivre. A country blessed with a diverse flora and fauna, whose landscapes range from idyllic Caribbean beaches to the snow-capped peaks of the Andes. Another of Colombia's most valuable natural treasures is cocoa, which is laboriously hand-cultivated by small farmers and harvested with the utmost care. The sustainably grown cocoa beans for our Grand Cru chocolate thrive in the community of Tumaco, located directly alongside the Pacific Ocean, in the very southwest of the country. Here the exotic flowers ripen in 5 to 7 months into full cocoa fruits. The low yield of cocoa from the small cultivated area of just 90 km2 makes the harvest extremely exclusive and valuable.
